Along the path there are towers, whose task is to repel the march of minions and enemy heroes. The player's goal is to destroy enemy towers and the Vain Crystal located in the enemy base. After the crystal is destroyed, the team that did it is declared the winner.

Esports is a fundamental part of Vainglory. In 2015, Super Evil Megacorp founded Vaingloryleague (VGL), a league dedicated to supporting professional teams and players. In March 2016, Red Bull hosted the VGL Winter Season 2016 Championship with 16 teams participating and a prize pool of $25,000.
